Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, "We will be launching the pure electric SUV in the fourth quarter (October-December) this year. It will be launched in some select cities across the country."
It must be noted that when they arrive, MG Motor cars will be the only one in India to offer OTA technology.
For those are not familiar with OTA technology, here's a brief about it: OTA is a wireless way of distributing new software, configuration settings, etc. to devices. In the context of cars, this technology enables the carmaker to update its operating system in the vehicle to update content, etc.
Back to MG Motor -- while Gupta did not reveal details about the cities where the company plans to launch the MG electric SUV, he did say that the car will offer a driving range of more than 250 km in a single charge.
The upcoming MG Hector SUV, the company's first model for the country, is scheduled to be launched later this year in June. MG Motor has already started trial production of the car at its manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat.
It may be interesting to note that starting this year, MG Motor India intends to launch one car every year.
